As Apple released this year's major version of macOS, we'd like to remind everyone that the Origins Online client is still not ready for macOS Catalina, but we are working on a permanent solution, and there are a few alternatives to continue playing even if you need to update!
Unfortunately, 32 bit applications are no longer supported starting with macOS 10.15, and the Ragnarok client is one of those. If you rely on your Mac to play Origins Online, please refrain from upgrading to macOS 10.15 for the time being, while we work on a compatible client. Until then, the only options to play on macOS are:
- Stick a bit longer with macOS 10.14 Mojave (this means you won't get the latest cool features from Apple just yet, but you'll still be receiving security updates)
- Run the game in a Windows Virtual Machine, through VMWare Fusion, Parallels Desktop or VirtualBox (note: this requires a MS Windows license)
- Run the game natively in Windows, through BootCamp (note: this requires a MS Windows license, and a reboot every time you want to switch between macOS and Windows)
Although we don't currently have an ETA we can commit to, we're fully committed to restoring complete compatibility with newer macOS versions, and we're aiming to release a playable alpha version of a brand new client, written from the grounds up for macOS, in the first half of 2020. We're also closely following any updates to the technologies we're currently using in the Mac client, which may allow us to release a compatibility update earlier.
